He was on the Kitig's service against the Scots 4 August to 7 November 1322. Steward of the King's Household July 1322 to May 1325. Ordered to besiege the Castle of Wallingford 17 January 1322/3. (c) He was living 12 July 1285, but d. before Kirkby's Inquest (Bucks, Oxon, Somerset). He was son and heir of Roger (living 27 May 1281), son and heir of Robert (who m. Joan and d. 1236), son and heir of Robert d'Amaury. Dugdale presumes that the Richard in the text was son and heir of Nicholas, citing Charter Roll, 6 Edward II, no. 65, for the existence of the latter. He has, however, read "Nicholas" instead of "Richard", which is the name on the Roll. Subsequent writers have copied the mistake, accepting this imaginary Nicholas.

Note: Their son Richard, b. 1315/6, dsp. 29 Mar 1375, more or less penniless, having sold all of his property and being put into Fleet (prison) because of his debts to the king. Heirs are not known.
