    JOHN (DE HASTINGES, LORD HASTINGES, of Abergavenny, 2nd but 1st surviving son and heir, by 1st wife, born 29 September 1286. The King took his homage, and he had livery of his father's lands in England 25 March 1313, and in Ireland 28 June following. He was beyond seas in May 1313: and at the battle of Bannockburn, 24 June 1314. He was summoned for Military Service from 30 June 1314 to 1 May 1325, to Councils from 28 March 1321 to 20 February, and to Parliament from 23 May 1313 to 24 September 1324, by writs directed Johanni de Hastingges.

    He married Juliane, de jure suo jure [according to modern doctrine] Baroness Leyburn, daughter and heir of Sir Thomas DE LEYBOURNE, of Leybourne and Newington, Kent [son and heir apparent of William, 1st Lord Leyburn], by Alice, sister and heir of Sir Robert DE TONI [1st Lord Toni], and daughter of Sir Ralph DE TONI, both of Castle Maud, co. Radnor, South Tawton, Devon, and Flamstead, Herts. He died 20 January 1324/5, aged 38. On 22 July 1325 the manors of Leybourne and Newington were released to his widow. She married, 2ndly, Sir Thomas LE BLOUNT, of Tibberton, co. Gloucester [1st Lord Blount], sometime Steward of the King's Household. On 23 September 1325 Thomas and Juliane had livery of the manors, and on 3 December following of the knights' fees and advowsons, which the King had assigned to her in dower. Thomas died 17 August 1328. She married, 3rdly, before 17 October 1328, William (DE CLINTON), afterwards EARL OF HUNTINGDON, who died 25 August 1354. She died 2 November 1367, and was buried in St. Anne's Chapel in the Church of St. Augustin, Canterbury. [Complete Peerage VI:349-50, XIV:372, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
