BARONY OF BOTREAUX (I)
WILLIAM DE BOTREAUX, son and heir of William DE Botreaux (d), of Botreaux Castle, otherwise Boscastle, Cornwall, Sheriff of Cornwall (who died 22 July 1349), by Isabel, younger daughter and coheir of Sir John MOELS [LORD MOELS], of North Cadbury, Somerset, and East Berkhampstead, Herts, was born 1 September 1337, at Botylet, in Lanreath, Cornwall; had livery of his lands 27 September 1359, having proven his age; was in the expedition to Saxony that year, and subsequently (1380) was in that (to Portugal) against Spain. He was summoned to Parliament from 24 February 1367/8 to 12 September 1390 by writs directed Willeli;zo de Botreaux, whereby he may be held to have become LORD BOTREAUX.
He married, February 1369/70, Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Ralph DAUBENEY, [2nd Lord Daubeney] by Katharine, his 2nd wife, sister and in her issue coheir of Thomas THWENG [4th LORD THWENG]. [Complete Peerage II:241-2, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]
