  • Sex: M
  • Birth: 1090 in of Gordon, Berwickshire, Scotland (born in England)

"...Adam II died in 1138 at the Battle of the Standard. He left 2 sons, Richard de Gordun and Adam of Huntly & Faunes. Faunes presumably being what is now marked on the maps as Fans, lie just west of West Gordon; and no doubt were the lands granted to Adam for his maintenance. The accounts give only Richard's descendants to any extent, but the two families were reunited into one four generations later."

    from on Clan Gordon:

According to Chalmers, the founder of this great family came from England in the reign of David the First (1124-53), and obtained from that prince the lands of Gordon (anciently Gordun, or Gordyn, from, as Chalmers supposes, the Gaelic Gordin, "on the hill"). He left two sons, Richard, and Adam, who, though the younger son, had a portion of the territory of Gordon, with the lands of Fanys on the southern side of it.
