I notice that on the Echyngham family you have alice Batisford as 2nd wife of Wm Echyngham. She was first wife according to several printed articles and he married 2nd Joan Fitzalan as her second husband, she widow of william de brian(bryan) who died 1395.So she married Wm about 1396. According to an inquiest Winchelsea 1415 Joan and Elizaveth , daughters of Wm Echyngham and wife Joan were involved with a grant or deed in winchelsea. Joan was married to John Rykill son of Wm Rykill and wife Rosa and Elizabeth had not yet married Thomas Hoo and later Lewknor. Also all this is in the article "Stained Glass Windows of Nettlestead church" available on film from LDS library giving all the connections of Batisford, Peplesham and Echyngham. Also Magery Peplesham Cralle Batisford , mother of alice Batisford left a will in 1406 and alice was not mentioned , another proof of earlier death. Also deeds in Sussex signed by wm an d Joan in 1401.

NOTE: I responded to Charlotte with the entry from Douglas Richardson's "Magna Carta Ancestry" (see notes under wife Joan Arundel for entry), which supports the order that I have for the marriages. However Tony Ingham, in a post to SGM, citing the inquest at Winchelsea given above by Charlotte is of the opinion that MCA is in error. Obviously there are some differences of opinion on this matter. It may well be that the order of marriages is reversed from what I (& MCA) have, but I haven't yet seen a final resolution of which children were from which marriage. Some doubt that a marriage between Joan Echingham and Thomas Baynton took place. So I will wait for further developments before changing my data base.
