    BARONY OF BARDOLF (III)

    JOHN [BARDOLF), LORD BARDOLF, son and heir, born 13 January 1311/2. He had seizin of his lands 26 March 1335. He served in Scotland, Germany, and Brittany, and in 1345, was a Knight Banneret. He was summoned to Parliament 22 January 1335/6 to 1 June 1363, the last two writs being directed Johanni Bardoff de Wirmegey.

    He married 1326, Elizabeth, only daughter and heir of Roger [LORD] D'Amour, by Elizabeth, 3rd and youngest daughter of Gilbert (DE CLARE), EARL OF GLOUCESTER AND HERTFORD, and Joan, daughter of King Edward I. She, who was born shortly before 23 May 1318, brought him large estates in Dorset, and was Iiving 1360. He died in July or Aug. 1363, at Assisi, in Italy, aged 51.     John Bardolf, 3rd Baron Bardolf de Wirmegay, as latterly styled, summoned to parliament from 22 January, 1336, to 1 June, 1363. His lordship m. Elizabeth, dau. and co-heiress of Sir Roger d'Amorie, and, as Dugdale calls her, "that great woman," his wife, Elizabeth, by whom he acquired a considerable accession of landed property. This nobleman participated in the glories of the martial reign of Edward III and attained the high dignity of Banneret. He d. in 1371, and was s. by his son, William Bardolf, 4th Baron Bardolf.
