Name: Elizabeth de HOLAND 1 2
Birth: 1385 in Thorpe Waterville, Thrapston, Northamptonshire, England
Death: AFT 18 NOV 1449
Elizabeth, sister of Sir John Holland, of Northants. [Burke's Peerage]
Elizabeth Holand, sister of Sir John Holand, co. Northampton. [Magna Charta Sureties]
Note: I at one time had Elizabeth's father as Sir John Holand, 1st Duke of Exeter; however, his son John was the 2nd Duke of Exeter. If either of the two citation from MCS & Burke's meant that her brother was the 2nd Duke of Exeter, they would have stated so. I also had her born in Brackley, Norhamptonshire (which may still be true).
Therefore Elizabeth is the daughter of a person with much less stature. I found information on World Connect from Susan Johanson (db=Johanson) that Elizabeth was the daughter of a John de Holand of Thorpe Waterville. I subsequently found in Burke's Peerage a documented line for John de Holand of Thorpe Waterville. Susan had John as a son of his uncle Robert de Holand by Elizabeth, who did have a son John, but nothing is known about him other than footnote (a) in Complete Peerage VI:532 that he became the "heir male", even though he was 4th son, because the others, including Robert de Holand (who is in my lineage, d. by 1373) dvp or in one case, became a monk. They don't explain how an "heir male" who is the only son left at his father's death did not get the title (it went to Robert's daughter Maud).
