Name: Randolphus le RUFFUS , of Caldecote
ALIA: Randolphus le /Rous/, of Caldecote
Birth: ABT 1110 in Caldecote, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England
The following post-em by Nancy Lopez alerted me to what "Ruffus" meant and to a connected family:
I found a passage in A History of "Walsall and Its Neighbourhood" on google books that helps to clear up all the William Ruffus I found attached to female offspring. I have the page with the information and source linked here. It seems that there were three brothers, William, Herbert and Richard who were named Ruffus or Rous (the Red). William was the father of Emma Ruffus and Chamberlain for Henry II. Herbert was the father of another William Ruffus who was the father of Sir William Ruffus who died without heirs and his lands went to his sisters, one being Enycina.
NOTE: VCH Staffordshire (Walsall) states that Sir William had daughters (instead of sisters): Emecina & Margery. See him in my line starting with Herbert and notes in Emecina.
