On her birth certificate application, his daughter lists him as being a foreman at the Fordyce Lumber Yard in Bloomington. She lists his birthplace as Athens Co. Ohio and his age at her birth as 35 (=b. 1846).
There is a Wm H Smith living at 608 N. Howard employed as a teamster at J M Fordice Company in the 1893 Bloomington City Directory. This Wm H Smith is not listed in the 1895 City Directory.
The family address in his wife's funeral annoucement in June 1894 was #405 West Grove Street, Bloomington, Illinois. It stated that he was an unemployed carpenter with 5 surviving children.
Reports of his children are originally from his granddaughter, Roberta Mae (Phillips) Brown.
