    STARKVILLE MS - Entered into rest June 19, 2004, Mr. William Hunter Yonce, age 85, of Starkville, formerly of Graniteville, son of the late Charles M. Yonce and the late Lila Clark Yonce. He is survived by nieces, Katherine Y. Kirkland of Starkville, and Louise B. Harley of Warrenville SC and a nephew, Clarence W. Yonce, Jr. of Graniteville. He was born in Johnston, but made his home in Graniteville for a number of years. He was a member of the Solid Rock Baptist Church in Aiken. He was a member of the VFW, Post 7173. He served in the U.S. Army and was a POW of World War II from November of 1944 to May of 1945. Graveside in the Graniteville Cemetery. The Augusta Chronicle, June 24, 2004. Note: William was captured near the German border on November 12, 1944. P.O.W. in Limburg, New Branburg, Parchiss, Germany Prison Camps. Liberated May 3, 1945. Awarded: BSM, BS, CIB, G. Cond. M., Am. Def. M., VM, Amer., EAME.
