How exciting to get an answer. I believe I said I am so new to this, andto
the computer also, that any lead is a GOOD one. My name is Dolly. Itoldyou
about marriage license that I have seen # on line and have sent for. My
mother's baptismal certificate says her mother was Minnie Behrendt, nee
Kobernuss. On a hand written paper my mother has listed births anddeathsof
all of her brothere and sisters. Also lists father, and her mother, hereshe
writes Kobernuz, born in Germany, March 17- 1873 or 1874, and died (shehas
crossed out 1918 and 1919 and seems to have settled for 1920. On back of
oldest picture. of my mother's grandmother, my mother has written, Grandma
Mina Kobernuz. On the mat around the picture is the name of thephotography
studio. it is Barrett 2746 Fullerton Ave. Chicago,Cook,Illinoisl. Ilivein Texas
now, but came from EvanstonIllinois. , in 1977. Both grandmothersweredead when
I was born in 1930. The great grandmother lived with my grandma andgrandpa
on South Blvd. in Evanston, along with my mother and the other kids. I am
trying to get more info. from a cousin. See if any of this matches up with
anything you know. Talk later. Hope to hear from you soon. Dolly

Got your message. You are more adept at this than me, so I will just tell
you what I know. Like I said I have sent for marriage license, believed to
be Henry Behrendt and Minnie Kobernuz (or nuss) . Have also sent for census
for 1910, of Henry Behrendt. If my grandmother was born in Germany, like my
mother said, it had to be a family that came over after her birth date,
which was 1873 or 1874. August Kobernuss family has names which are in my
family Bertha, my mother, Anna, an aunt. I realize names like that are
common. You mentioned the name Voss, and it sounded familiar. Lookedbackat
my mother's Baptism Cert. and a witness was Bertha Voss. Baptism tookplace
in Skokie, Ill. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. I believe that is the church
that had a cemetery across the road that my mother took us to once, andhad
lots of her past family buried. I can't place Warren St. in Evanston, just
now. Will look these these things over some more and hope to hear from you
    again soon. Dolly

Are you getting tired of hearing from me? I cannot print out full
certificate, so I will have to lay on my side and try to read itall.Walter
Phillips, and Clarence Phillips sound familiar, like my mom's cousins or
some relation. Also heard her talk of an Annie Dein, if that is pronounced
Dine. I will have to look at your message closer to try and figure out
numbers. If Gladys Nelson was married to Walter Phillips, I am wonderingif
she is the Gladys (I think her name was Phillips) that was married to (or
with) my uncle Louie in Antioc. IL. Lots of things seem familiar, but
which is which. Have to try to put the puzzle together. Who is this Dave
Phillips? Son of who? Do you fit into this same line of Kobernuss, too?
    Dolly
    -----------

    Hi Dolly and George,

It sure sounds like Dolly and I are related! Anna Kobernus was my great
grandmother and I know she had a sister named Bertha. I'm still not sure
where the 'Voss' name comes from, but my cousin, Sheldon Dein seems to
recall a Voss name on Anna Kobernus's side. Anna married Henry Phillips
(my great grandfather of course). They are both burried at Eden memorial
cemetary, but I could not find any information on Bertha Kobernus because
I did not know her married name.

Also, one quick clarification - its not Hoya Ave, but Hoyne Ave. that you
are thinking of. Please send me a gedcom file (if there is one) of Bertha
Kobernus's ancestry. I'm looking forward to the expansion of my family
    tree!
