Death visited this vicinity on Sunday morning August 12 and on the following day, Monday, the 13th and relieved us of two of our most highly honored and esteemed fellowmen, viz; Mr. Joseph Jennings and Mr. Isaiah Wells. Mr. Joseph Jennings was born in June 1802 in the state of New Jersey. In the year 1811 he came to this county in company of his father. He was married in the year 1826 to Miss Abigail Powelson. The result of this marrige was ten sons and one daughter. Deceased was loyal to this country giving two sons to its cause and having eight sons who went to defend the Nation's honor. Seven sons and one daughter survive him; also 45 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Mr. Jennings was honest and upright in all his dealings with his fellow men. He was not a member of any church, but he died a believer in Christ. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John I. Wilson. Internment took place in the Franklin M.P. Cemetery. His remains were followed to their last resting place by the largest concourse of friends and relatives ever seen in this section1
