    2. Papenfuse et al.(A Biological Dictionary of the Mary Legislature, 1635-1789. Johns Hopkins University Press, 1979) does not list his parents and stated that he "probably immigrated".

    However, it is possible that he was the son of Stephen Bordley and Priscilla Murphy. The ages and other circumstantial evidence plus the ability to account for most of the other Bordleys in the area at the time strongly indicate that this is the case. However, this seems doubtful since Stephen Bordley did not any sons in his wil

    Judge James Bordley (1736-1793)

    Of "Bordlington", Queen Anne?s County, Md. Son of Stephen Bordley, Jr. (1709-1776). He and his brother Will were known as the Wye River Bordleys having been born there. He served Queen Anne?s County in Lower House of Md. Legislature 1777-9 (see Papenfuse); on vestry of St. Pauls 1769-83; and as Register of St. Pauls; Justice 1773-86; Committee of Correspondence, elected 1774; Justice, Orphan?s Court 1778-86; Captain of a militia co., 20th Bn. 1776. He manumitted all 21 of his slaves 1785-92. He owned 1090 acres in Queen Anne?s Co. (from the Dix Clemens Family Archives)
