Family tradition says that John and Mary had a son who was killed in a hunting accident. According to the 1850 census, John was a salesman. He was one of the first who located in the village of Olive, Morgan Co. (later Noble Co.,) OH, and was a justice of the peace in 1851. He died of heart disease. and Mary died of Grippe. In 1870, grandson William Rogers, age 4, and son-in-law George Barrack age 28, a teamster, were living with them.
