Cary Headley was a Revolutionary Soldier. He was granted a pension of $40 per year in 1833. He made a declaration that he entered the service of the United States on the 7th or 8th day of June, 1776, under Capt. Silas Beckwith of the NJ Militia, as a substitute for Benjamin Sutton. He was discharged about the 23rd of November in the same year. In Nov. of 1778, he was drafted to guard military stores in Morris Co., NJ, and served then about one month 6 days and was discharged. On the first of July, 1779, he volunteered as a militiaman in NJ Militia in Morris Co. He stated that he was born in 1760 in Morris Co., NJ. At the time of service, he lived in Morris Co., NJ, and lived there also for about 3 years after the Revolution. He then lived for about 12 years in Washington Co., PA., then 16 years in Virginia, and since then in Monroe Co. The family Bible was presented as evidence, which gave all the children's names and birthdates, except one.

Carey moved with his brother Samuel and his father Francis Headley to Randolph Co., Virginia, about 1796. He was in York Twp., Belmont Co., OH, in 1820, and in 1830 he moved with son Francis, to Enoch Twp., Monroe Co., OH, where he lived until he died.

According to the Headley Migrations, Cary moved to Washington Co., PA, about 1790. After 1796 and before 1799, he moved to Whitmans Run in Randolph Co., VA. About 1825, he joined Joseph's family in Monroe Co., OH.

Noble Co. newsletter states that Carey Headley was born in 1760, probably near Elizabethtown, NY. He died in Monroe County, an area that is now Noble County.
