  • Note:
Shown in 1880 census living in Presque Isle county, Michigan at the Polish farming community of Krakow, near Rogers City, Michigan. His name is spelled Brodefzski on the census. Living with him are his wife Mary, daughters Victoria, Annie and son Joseph. He is working as a farmer.

Filed Declaration of Intent in Presque Isle County, Michigan in October of 1879. Wasn't naturalized until May 1905 in Milwaukee. His papers didn't give any port or date of entry to the US.

Probably came to US through New Hampshire by way of Montreal in 1873, as 1873 is given consistently as date of entry on all censuses and Victoria is stated on two census to have been born in New Hampshire in 1873. By 1876, the family was in Michigan, where Anna and Joseph were born, probably in Presque Isle County. At some point the family is stated to have lived in Manistee per Mary Brodowski Quartemont, but no evidence of this has been found, as the family lived in Presque Isle County in 1880. Before May 1881, the family moved to Milwaukee, where John was born.

The family has not been found in any of the Baltimore, Philadelphia or NY passenger lists and probably came in through Montreal in 1873.
